[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co. said on the 17th that it attended the Krynica Economic Forum in Poland on the 14th (local time) as a member of a joint public-private delegation to discuss ways for small module reactors (SMR) to enter Eastern Europe.
Hyundai Engineering & Construction said forum participants expressed high interest in the SMR project and expressed their willingness to actively cooperate in building next-generation energy in Eastern Europe.
Hyundai Engineering & Construction plans to establish a branch in Warsaw this year as an outpost for entering Eastern Europe. At the same time, the company plans to expand its SMR business to neighboring countries such as Lithuania, Romania and Slovakia.
On the 12th, it signed a 'business agreement on nuclear research and development (R&D) and research reactor cooperation' with the Polish Atomic Energy Research Institute and decided to establish a cooperative system for research reactors, nuclear technology and manpower exchanges.
