[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] DB HiTek recently announced that it has expanded its 8-inch foundry production capacity to 151,000 units per month.
DB HiTek has been steadily increasing its production capacity every year since its success in the surplus in 2014. DB HiTek, the first Korean company to enter the foundry business in 2001, suffered a deficit due to high technology barriers and investment costs, and succeeded in turning into a surplus in 2014. As a result, production capacity, which stood at 95,830 in 2014, has continued to rise to 122,000 in 2019 and 138,000 in 2021, exceeding 110,000 in 2016.
Especially, this investment is focused on the power semiconductor, which is the main business. Currently, DB Hi-Tech focuses on producing power semiconductors, including BCDMOS (Combined Voltage Device), one of its flagship processes at Bucheon Campus in Gyeonggi Province, and produces power semiconductors and image sensors at Sangwoo Campus in North Chungcheong Province. The investment was made at Bucheon Campus. With this investment, Bucheon Campus will have a production capacity of 91,000 copies, up 11,000 from the previous 80,000 copies.
