[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Sangjin] Non-Practicing Entity (NPE) Mimir IP has filed a lawsuit against Micron in the United States after acquiring patents from SK Hynix.

According to the semiconductor industry on the 16th, Mimir IP filed the lawsuit on the 3rd of this month in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas and with the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC), accusing Micron of patent infringement. The lawsuit also targets companies using Micron products, including Tesla, Dell, HP, and Lenovo.

Mimir IP received over 1,500 semiconductor patents from SK Hynix last month. The patents involved in the lawsuit pertain to circuits, voltage measuring devices, and non-volatile memory devices.

It has been clarified that this patent infringement lawsuit is not directly related to SK Hynix.

In March, it was revealed that a former SK Hynix employee who handled DRAM and HBM design had moved to Micron as a senior executive. This raised concerns about the need for measures to prevent technology leaks. SK Hynix filed an injunction against this employee, and the 50th Civil Division of the Seoul Central District Court (presided by Judge Kim Sang-hoon) granted the injunction, ordering the employee to pay 10 million KRW per day for violations.
