[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] POSCO International enters Ukraine reconstruction business.
POSCO International announced on the 15th that Vice Chairman Chung Tak signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Ukraine on the 14th (local time) to establish a steel modular manufacturing facility.
Modular construction is a method of pre-manufacturing walls, windows, wiring, pipes, etc. of a building and then assembling them like Lego blocks on site. As the construction period can be shortened by up to 60%, many of the infrastructure has been destroyed by the war, making it a suitable construction method for Ukraine, which is in urgent need of reconstruction. The modular structure factory was decided to be built in Micolai space.
In particular, the project will be carried out at the group level in cooperation with POSCO's steel products and POSCO A & C's engineering technologies. POSCO A & C is a company that can design, manufacture, and construct modular structures.
With this MOU, POSCO International plans to expand its business in Ukraine to include food business and infrastructure.
