[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Asiana IDT, an Asiana-based IT service company, surged on news that the date for the corporate combination review between Asiana Airlines and Korean Air has been confirmed.
According to the Korea Exchange on the 8th, Asiana IDT was traded at 16,860 won, up 2,820 won (20.09%) from the previous day.
The EU Executive Committee (EC) announced on its website on the 6th, "We will temporarily conclude the corporate combination review of Asiana Airlines and Korean Air before February 14 next year."
Earlier in June, EC suspended the screening due to weak competition for passenger and cargo transportation on European routes. In response, Korean Air submitted a corrective measure to EC on the 3rd of last month, including a plan to sell the Asian Airlines cargo division separately. After that, additional data needed for examination has been submitted at the request of EC. If EC approves the combination this time, the U.S. and Japanese rival authorities will still review it.
Asiana IDT, an IT service company, was launched independently as a separate corporation in Asiana Airlines' information and communication division in 2003. Asiana IDT provides stable and efficient IT infrastructure services to customers based on its own data centers.
