[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] On June 10, the Crew Union announced it will begin a series of staged strikes, starting with a 2-hour partial strike on June 11. Following this, a 4-hour partial strike and a large rally at noon are planned for June 18, culminating in a full-day strike scheduled for June 25.

The Crew Union emphasized the symbolic significance of this collective action, marking the first strike since the union’s founding. The union stated, “The growth of Kakao Mobility was made possible by the dedication and hard work of the Crew members. Despite strong business performance, management has presented a one-sided and inadequate compensation plan, ignoring workers’ rightful demands and contributions.”

This inaugural strike by the Kakao labor union will begin in solidarity with the Naver labor union. At Naver, the recent reinstatement of an executive responsible for a workplace harassment incident has sparked strong opposition from the union, which is organizing a rally on June 11.

Both Kakao and Naver unions have jointly raised their voices to advocate for a healthier working environment and responsible management across the IT industry. Their alliance highlights shared demands for addressing structural issues and improving labor conditions throughout the sector.
