LG Display implements voluntary retirement for production workers aged 28 or older

[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] LG Display will offer voluntary retirement for production workers aged 28 or older.

According to industries on the 26th, LG Display is receiving voluntary retirement applications for production workers who have worked for more than three years at its plants in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, and Gumi, North Gyeongsang Province.

LG Display implemented voluntary retirement for production workers aged 40 or older at the end of last year. The target age has fallen from 30 to 28 this year. Those who wish to retire will be paid 36 months' worth of fixed benefits.

Voluntary retirement is aimed at reducing costs in addition to streamlining spare manpower due to the reduction of liquid crystal display (LCD) lines. LG Display recorded losses for six consecutive quarters from the second quarter of 2022 to the third quarter of last year. Although it succeeded in turning into a surplus in the fourth quarter of last year, it returned to the red with an operating loss of 469.4 billion won in the first quarter of this year.
