[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Lotte Chilsung raises the price of soju

Lotte Chilsung Beverage will raise the export price (including manufacturing cost, sales cost, and profit) only for soju products such as "Like the First" and "New" from January 1 next year. Like the beginning (360ml bottle), 6.8% increases, and new (360ml bottle) increases 8.9%.

In fact, Hite Jinro has raised factory prices of its original soju brands Chamisul Fresh and Chamisul by 6.95 percent, while local soju makers such as Muhak, Bohae Brewery Co., Daesun Distilling Co., Mackiss Company and Mount Halla have also raised prices since the 9th of last month, but Lotte Chilsung Beverage has delayed price hikes for more than two months.

Lotte Chilsung's increase in the price of soju will be made at the same time as the base sales ratio introduced by the National Tax Service. As a result, store prices will be 4.5% lower than before and 2.7% cheaper for new ones.

The base sales ratio is a kind of tax discount rate that reduces the tax base when calculating the main tax, and the larger the base sales ratio, the smaller the tax base and the smaller the tax base. The National Tax Service decided to set the standard sales ratio of Korean soju at 22%, which will reduce the factory price of soju by about 10%.
