[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Lotte World Tower announced on the 22nd that it has signed a contract with Korea Electric Power Corporation to sell fuel cell power.

Lotte World Tower plans to efficiently operate fuel cell power generation facilities while leading the production and activation of renewable energy.

It is the first commercial building in Korea to qualify as a fuel cell power generation operator, and it will sell power from a 800kW fuel cell power generation facility installed at the energy center on the sixth basement floor of Lotte World Tower to Korea Electric Power Corp.

Lotte C&T invested about 2 billion won for three months from September last year to replace it with a more efficient new fuel cell facility. Since then, after about a year of preparation, including the acquisition of licensing, technology review and construction of power transmission and distribution facilities, the company signed a contract to sell electricity with Korea Electric Power Corp. and launched a fuel cell power generation project.

Lotte World Tower will produce about 6447MWh of electricity annually through fuel cell power generation facilities and sell it to Korea Electric Power Corporation. This is the amount that about 2,400 households can use for a year based on the generation using about 240kWh per month on average.
