Tesla recalled more than 60,000 cars in Korea due to defects in the Autopilot

[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said on the 4th that it has ordered to voluntarily recall all 63,391 vehicles sold in South Korea since 2017, citing the lack of risk notification function of Tesla's autonomous driving assistant "Autopilot."


Autopilot is a device that recognizes objects around the vehicle on its own, adjusts speed or distance between cars and changes lanes without driver control. Last month in the US

The Road Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recalled 2.03 million Tesla vehicles for the same reason, and South Korea also took action based on this.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport also decided to voluntarily recall 1992 vehicles, saying they were found to be unlocked in the event of a crash due to software errors in models X and S sold between April and October this year. Tesla will take corrective action through OTA (Radio Update) from the 5th. Owners can install Tesla-distributed software without visiting repair shops.
