[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport will conduct an emergency safety check on Boeing 737-8 Max aircraft operating in Korea. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport sent an official letter of "urgent safety inspection" to each airline that operates the Boeing 737-8 Max aircraft on the 7th.
This is because Alaska Airlines Flight 1282 (Boeing 737-9 Max) recently fell off its fuselage door during flight at Portland Airport in the U.S., causing an emergency return landing.
In Korea, 14 Boeing 737-8 Max aircraft, including 5 Korean Air, 4 Eastar Jet, 2 Jeju Air, 2 T'way Airlines, and 1 Jin Air, are in operation. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport plans to check the entrance of the Boeing 737-8 Max aircraft, the emergency exit installation status, and whether it is sealed or not by the 9th.
