A war of nerves between Choi Tae-won and Roh So-young ahead of the second trial of the divorce suit

[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] The second trial of the divorce suit between SK Group Chairman Choi Tae-won and Art Center Nabi director Roh So-young will continue its future hearing without any change. Legal experts predict that Chairman Choi's side may be on alert as the existing court continues its trial.

In response to such observations, Chairman Choi quickly distributed a statement of "reasonable measures," but continued the battle outside the courtroom.

The Seoul High Court on the 11th reviewed whether the second division of the housework (Kim Si-cheol, Kang Sang-wook and Lee Dong-hyun, senior judges), which is reviewing the case, should be reassigned, and decided that it does not need to be reassigned. The court in question is likely to proceed with the trial several more times and sentence it within a month or two after the final trial.

Chairman Choi earlier appointed two more lawyers from Kim & Chang's law firm on the 9th to strengthen his defense rights after Roh changed the purpose of the claim to a total of 2.3 trillion won due to alimony and division of property. Since then, it has been revealed that Kim & Chang has a lawyer who has a relative relationship with the court in charge.

Given that the Supreme Court's Public Officials Ethics Committee recommended that it was desirable for the judge not to handle the case in principle if the judge's third and fourth cousins work as lawyers at law firms, there was a possibility that the court could be relocated.

Recognizing this, the court asked the Seoul High Court's dividend holder for a review and judged that there was no problem to proceed with the trial as it was by combining the reason for requesting the review, the progress of the trial, the extent of the hearing, various rules and opinions recommended by the Supreme Court.

As the Home Affairs Department 2, which is reviewing the case, proceeds with the trial as it is, observers say that the first court's ruling that "Choi should give Roh 100 million won in alimony and 66.5 billion won in assets" may change. In fact, unlike the first trial court, the High Court accepted Choi's request for disclosure of his personal financial account as requested by Roh. The court is expected to reschedule the trial and continue the hearing soon.
