[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Samsung Electronics unveiled the "Galaxy S24" series on the 17th (local time), which is applied with artificial intelligence (AI) technology such as real-time interpretation and automatic image search. It is the beginning of the full-fledged AI phone era.
Samsung Electronics opened the "Galaxy Unpack 2024" at the San Jose SAP Center in California and unveiled the Galaxy S24 series. It is the world's first AI phone equipped with Galaxy AI developed by Samsung Electronics. "The Galaxy S24 series will open a new era of mobile AI phones," said Roh Tae-moon, president of Samsung Electronics' MX business division. "Galaxy AI will help change the way users experience the world and achieve unlimited potential."
The S24 series is based on on-device AI that allows users to use functions such as real-time interpretation and automatic image search without having to connect to the Internet. First, real-time interpretation supports 13 languages including Korean and English. It is also equipped with a 'Note Assist' (Note Assist) function that summarizes the writings and memos written in 'Samsung Note' and converts them according to the minutes format. If you record a meeting with 'voice recording', which is a basic app, up to 10 speakers will be provided with a script for each speaker with Speech-to-text (STT) technology.
Camera performance has also been upgraded. The Ultra, a high-end model, also provides optical-level high-definition at 2, 3, 5, and 10 times, which were previously provided only in 3, 10 times zoom. Also, the ultra model is applied with new glass and titanium material of coin that reduces light reflection by up to 75% compared to regular glass, and is equipped with 'Snapdragon 8 3rd generation'. The S24 basic type is based on 'Exynos 2400'.
Samsung Electronics will launch the S24 series around the world, including Korea, starting on the 31st. Pre-sale in Korea will take place from 19th to 25th. The Galaxy S24 and S24+ will start at 1,155,000 won and 1,353,000 won, respectively, the same as their predecessors, while the Ultra will start at 1,698,400 won, up about 100,000 won.
