[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Lotte Mall West Lake Hanoi, a super-large commercial complex that opened in Hanoi, Vietnam in July last year, has surpassed 100 billion won in cumulative sales in just half a year since its opening.
According to Lotte Department Store on the 23rd, Lotte Mall West Lake Hanoi's sales exceeded 100 billion won on the 21st. Lotte explained that it achieved 100 billion won in sales at the fastest pace among shopping malls in Hanoi. The complex, built in Hanoi's West Guardian City, is 354,000 square meters and houses shopping malls, marts, hotels, aquariums and movie theaters. It is similar to 'Lotte Town' in Jamsil, Seoul.
Analysts say that Hanoi's economy is growing rapidly, but it was mainly due to the lack of large-scale distribution and commercial facilities for citizens to enjoy. It also paid off by filling 36% (85) of the 233 brands in the shopping mall with brands that first entered the country.
Lotte Department Store is planning to speed up the Southeast Asian market with a complex shopping mall. It is also considering opening one or two more premium shopping malls in Vietnam. Lotte Department Store operates a total of four stores in Southeast Asia, including three in Vietnam and one in Indonesia.
