[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] LS Materials will enter the aluminum battery parts business for electric vehicles (EV) in earnest. HAIMK, a subsidiary of LS Materials, announced on the 30th that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Gumi City, Gyeongbuk Province on investment in aluminum materials for EV.
Under the memorandum of understanding, HAIMK will invest about 75 billion won in the Gumi National Industrial Complex from April this year to build an aluminum parts plant for EVs.
The plant will mass-produce battery case parts from early 2025. Aluminum materials are supplied by LS Alsco, an affiliated company. It is known that it is the only factory in Korea that can supply products that meet the quality standards of finished car manufacturers.
HAIMK is a joint venture established in 2023 by LS Materials and Austrian aluminum parts company HAI.
