[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] General Motors (GM) Chairman Mary Barra will visit Korea to visit LG Energy Solutions and Samsung SDI, which are electric vehicle battery partners, on the 7th.
Kim Dong-myung, president of LG Energy Solutions, and Choi Yoon-ho, president of Samsung SDI, will meet respectively. It is heard that the company will discuss the volume of delivery and unit price negotiations and the schedule of joint venture business due to changes in the electric vehicle market in the future.
GM recently scrapped its previously announced production target as sales of electric vehicles slowed. I am trying to control the speed. Nevertheless, it is heard that the visit was made under the judgment that partnerships with LG Energy Solutions and Samsung SDI are important to secure stable batteries.
There is a possibility of discussing the schedule for the construction of a joint plant with Samsung SDI.
President Barra has visited Korea several times since taking office in 2016. It is the first official visit to Seoul to disclose the schedule and other details.
