[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] As The European Commission conditionally approved the business combination between Korean Air and Asiana Airlines, the birth of the world's top 10 largest airline (mega carrier) is about to take place.
The European Commission (EC) said on the 13th (local time) that it conditionally approved the review of the business combination between Korean Air and Asiana Airlines. As a result, Korean Air will be approved in 13 of the 14 countries that need to be approved for the business combination.
If the two airlines merge, they will become the world's top 10 airlines with sales of 20 trillion won and more than 200 aircraft.
