[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] More than 100 employees of Kumho Tire have won a lawsuit against the company regarding regular wages.

On the 23rd, the 14th Civil Division of the Gwangju District Court (Presiding Judge Na Gyeong) ruled in favor of 103 former employees in a wage (regular wage) lawsuit filed against the company, ordering the payment of a total of approximately 4.324 billion KRW.

The remaining 2,700 plaintiffs settled their lawsuits through forced adjustment or withdrawal of the lawsuit in agreement with the company.

Additionally, in a separate wage lawsuit filed by a Kumho Tire employee (referred to as A), the plaintiff also won the case, with the court ordering the company to pay approximately 36 million KRW.

Kumho Tire workers have been suing the company consecutively since 2013, claiming that regular wages were calculated excluding regular bonuses and that allowances were not paid.

Kumho Tire faced a crisis of having to compensate approximately 200 billion KRW due to additional wage lawsuits filed by about 3,500 employees after initially losing a wage lawsuit filed by five employees in 2022.

Last year, it seemed that the litigation would be concluded when the labor and management of Kumho Tire agreed to withdraw all lawsuits and pay two years and five months' worth of statutory compensation to approximately 3,000 current and former employees. However, some workers continued their lawsuits.
