[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Sangjin] Samsung Electronics' largest labor union, the National Samsung Electronics Labor Union, is set to resume dialogue with management after a two-week deadlock in wage negotiation.
According to industry sources on the 11th, Samsung Electronics labor and management will hold a meeting near the Samsung Electronics headquarters in Seocho, Seoul, on the 13th. Representatives from management's negotiating team are scheduled to meet with Son Woo-mok, the chairman of the National Samsung Electronics Labor Union.
The resumption of dialogue between labor and management comes after a two-week hiatus following the deadlock in the 8th round of wage negotiations on May 28th. During this meeting, labor and management are expected to discuss the schedule and direction for resuming the main negotiations.
Previously, the National Samsung Electronics Labor Union had secured the right to dispute through decisions by the Central Labor Committee to suspend mediation and through a vote among union members, after disagreements with management over wage increase rates and other issues. On the 7th, they conducted their first strike since the company's founding, using a group annual leave system.
