Fair Trade Commission Investigates Binggrae for Unfair Internal Transactions

[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] On October 9, it was reported that the Korea Fair Trade Commission (KFTC) has launched an investigation into Binggrae over allegations of unfair internal transactions, specifically concerning favoritism within the company.

The KFTC is looking into whether Binggrae violated fair trade laws by unfairly channeling business to a logistics subsidiary owned by the children of Chairman Kim Ho-yeon. Binggrae is accused of improperly intervening in the process of ending a partnership between its subsidiary, Haitai Ice Cream, and a supplier, Dongsan Industry, which previously handled the production of Bravo Cone wrappers and packaging. 

 

The company allegedly redirected the contract to the logistics subsidiary "Jetae," raising concerns of unfair preferential treatment.
