[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] At the end of this month, Naver plans to visit NVIDIA's headquarters in Santa Clara, California, to further discuss potential collaborations in artificial intelligence (AI). According to industry sources on the 4th, Naver Cloud employees will meet with NVIDIA representatives to explore specific partnership opportunities, building on the discussions initiated during the executive meeting held in June.
During the June 25 visit, Naver's Global Investment Officer (GIO) Lee Hae-jin, CEO Choi Soo-yeon, and other top executives met with NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang. They discussed the importance of sovereign AI and the development of AI models, which has led to speculation that the collaboration could extend beyond mere AI infrastructure to the launch of new AI projects. Notably, the meeting was reportedly initiated by NVIDIA, indicating strong interest from both sides in deepening their partnership.
Naver has maintained a close relationship with NVIDIA, as evidenced by the installation of NVIDIA A100 Tensor Core GPUs in Naver's Sejong supercomputer, which ranks 22nd in the world in terms of performance. The upcoming meeting is expected to further strengthen this collaboration.
The two companies are primarily focused on advancing the development of sovereign AI. This project will require a comprehensive approach, including the establishment of data centers equipped with high-performance GPUs, supporting power infrastructure, data pipelines, and ecosystems, as well as the integration of these technologies into real-world services. NVIDIA's expertise in providing high-performance GPUs is seen as crucial to enhancing the competitiveness of Naver's AI models.
However, Naver emphasized that this meeting is a follow-up to the June discussions, and no specific details have been confirmed at this time.
