[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] CJ CheilJedang, the nation's largest food company, has begun selling major foods such as dumplings and spam, including "Hatban," a leading instant rice brand, to Chinese platform Ali Express.
Since last year, CJ Korea Express has been in charge of Ali Express's domestic delivery logistics, and a three-way synergy collaboration structure is being completed for CJ CheilJedang to enter key brand products.
According to the distribution industry on the 14th, CJ CheilJedang entered Ali Express on the 7th and held an "unprecedented sale" on major products such as Hetbahn and dumplings until the 10th.
210gx24 products were sold 56% cheaper from 44,400 won to 19,800 won. This was much cheaper than major domestic retailers such as E-Mart (26,970 won) and Lotte Mart (25,900 won).
Even after the end of the 10-day sale, some products are being sold at a lower price than the market.
As CJ CheilJedang joins hands with Ali, sales of major products such as Hetbahn are expected to increase significantly.
CJ CheilJedang's food sales reached 11.2644 trillion won last year, up only 1.4 percent from a year earlier. In particular, CJ CheilJedang's Hetbahn sales reached a record high of 850.3 billion won last year, but it seems to have found a way to make up for its sales by falling from nearly 20% every year to 4% last year.
