[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Sangjin] BGF Retail, which operates the CU convenience store chain, announced on the 7th that CU's third-quarter consolidated revenue reached 2.3256 trillion won. Meanwhile, GS Retail reported that GS25's third-quarter standalone revenue was 2.3068 trillion won.

Typically, CU’s standalone revenue is estimated to be around 1-2% lower than its consolidated revenue. Therefore, CU's standalone revenue for Q3, which will be released on the 14th, is expected to range between 2.2791 trillion to 2.3023 trillion won. This suggests that CU will still fall short of GS25’s revenue by a narrow margin in the third quarter. However, industry analysts predict that CU will soon surpass GS25 in revenue, following its lead in store numbers and operating profit.

According to BGF Retail, CU’s third-quarter revenue increased by 5.4% compared to the same period last year, while its operating profit rose by 4.8% to 91.2 billion won.

For the first three quarters of 2024, BGF Retail’s cumulative revenue was 6.4823 trillion won, a 5.3% increase year-on-year, while operating profit declined by 1% to 200 billion won.
