[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Young Taek, (Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] It has been confirmed that Apple has filed a patent application for foldable iPhones and pads at The United States Patent and Trademark Office.
According to the PatentlyApple report on the 8th (local time), The United States Patent and Trademark Office has completed Apple's patent application for foldable displays.
This patent is an electronic device technology that minimizes bending along the folding axis with a flexible display embedded in the main body.
In other words, cut the inside of the glass cover of the folding part of the device to make it easier to bend and prevent wrinkles.
Apple believes that the inner surface of the cover filled with polymer materials will be smooth and that the rough texture of the filler surface will be effective in reducing light reflection.

Polymers are made of flexible materials such as silicon and acrylic, which is expected to significantly reduce light reflection.
Apple plans to apply foldable technology to iPhone, hybrid tablets (pads), laptops, and other products through the patent.
Apple launched the foldable iPhone in 2026 and started selecting major partners.
"Apple has decided to release the foldable iPhone in 2026, which is later than expected," a senior Apple official told Alpha Biz. "As it is released later than its competitors, we know that cutting-edge technologies will be concentrated."
"The foldable iPhones will be made thinner and lighter than our competitors," the official said. "In particular, the goal is to prevent wrinkles that our competitors are struggling."
