[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] KT CEO Kim Young-seob has been appointed to the board of the GSMA (Global System for Mobile Communications Association), representing Korea’s telecommunications sector. GSMA is the world's largest telecom association, comprising over 800 telecom operators and more than 250 manufacturers, equipment suppliers, internet, and media companies. Known for organizing events like the Mobile World Congress (MWC), GSMA facilitates collaboration among global telecom companies.

According to KT, GSMA finalized its new board lineup on October 23 (local time) for a two-year term from January 2025 to December 2026, with Kim included as a board member. KT stated, "This achievement reflects our active contributions within the GSMA leadership group, as well as our ongoing role as a host sponsor for the GSMA’s M360 APAC event for the second consecutive year."

The GSMA board comprises top-level executives, mainly CEOs from leading telecom companies worldwide, including AT&T, Verizon, Vodafone Group, and Telefónica. KT has regularly appointed its CEOs to the GSMA board since 2003, except for a two-year gap in 2019 and 2020.
