[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Binggrae CEO Kim Dong-hwan (41) is facing charges for allegedly assaulting a police officer after causing a disturbance while intoxicated in Yongsan on June 17. Kim reportedly resisted, questioning why he was being detained before physically assaulting an officer.

The first trial for Kim’s assault case took place on October 15, during which the prosecution requested a sentence of six months in prison, suspended for one year. Kim, represented by a legal team with former prosecutors and police officers, admitted to all charges during the proceedings. The sentencing hearing is set for November 7.

As the eldest son of Binggrae Chairman Kim Ho-yeon, Kim Dong-hwan joined the company in 2014 as a purchasing manager and was quickly promoted to CEO in March, marking the beginning of third-generation leadership at the company. Kim is also the nephew of Hanwha Group Chairman Kim Seung-youn.
