Samsung Heavy Industries |
[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Sangjin] Samsung Heavy Industries reported a significant rise in operating profit for Q2, reaching 130.7 billion won, marking a 121.9% increase from the same period last year. This is the first time in about 10 years that the company has surpassed the 100 billion won mark in quarterly operating profit since Q4 of 2014.
The company also saw a 30.1% increase in revenue year-over-year, totaling 2.532 trillion won for the quarter. This rise in revenue was largely attributed to the impact of sales from the Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) production facilities that began production in April.
Looking ahead, Samsung Heavy Industries expects the revenue structure by ship type in the second half of the year to be similar to that of Q2. The company remains on track to meet its annual targets of 9.7 trillion won in revenue and 400 billion won in operating profit.
So far this year, Samsung Heavy Industries has secured contracts for 22 ships worth 4.9 billion dollars, achieving 51% of its annual order target of 9.7 billion dollars. The company is also engaged in negotiations for various projects, including eco-friendly container ships, LNG carriers, and FLNG units, and expects to meet its annual order goals.
