[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Sangjin] SK Innovation announced on the 26th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with ExxonMobil for lithium supply at the "Fastmarkets Conference," the world's largest lithium and battery raw materials conference held in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA on the 24th (local time).

Through this MOU, SK Innovation plans to enhance its supply chain of American-produced lithium to strengthen its response to the U.S. Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IRA).

Under the agreement, SK Innovation will potentially receive up to 100,000 tons of lithium produced using Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) technology at the Arkansas lithium brine project operated by ExxonMobil. The specific timing and quantities of supply will be finalized after the main contract is signed.

SK Innovation continues to focus on establishing a global supply chain for key minerals in response to rapidly changing global industrial policies such as the IRA and the Critical Raw Materials Initiative (CRMA) of the European Union (EU).
