[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Genesis BBQ, the franchise operating BBQ Chicken, announced on the 21st that it will increase prices for its popular menu item, Golden Olive Chicken, from 20,000 won to 23,000 won starting from the 23rd. This marks the first price increase in two years.

The Golden Olive Chicken combo will see an increase from 24,000 won to 27,000 won. With delivery fees included, consumers will now have to pay in the 30,000 won range without any discounts.

Among 110 items, including side dishes, the prices of 23 chicken products are rising, with an average recommended retail price increase of 6.3%.

Last month, the 4th highest-selling chicken franchise, Goobne, raised prices by 1,900 won for nine chicken products, including Spicy BBQ Drumsticks. Additionally, Puradak Chicken increased prices by 1,000 won for both individual and set menu items.

BBQ Chicken, which has the largest number of franchise stores among chicken franchises, previously raised prices by 2,000 won for products like the Golden Olive Chicken in early May 2022, citing increases in raw material costs, logistics expenses, and labor costs.
