[Alpha Biz= Reporter Paul Lee] The government will invest 636.9 billion won this year in industries that are the basis of manufacturing, such as casting, mold welding, etc.

On the 8th, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy plans to invest a total of 636.9 billion won this year by related ministries to create a cutting-edge and sustainable growth system for the industry. Investment has increased by 57% compared to last year.

This industry is basically used in the manufacturing process of other industries such as automobiles, shipbuilding, and information technology (IT) and is an essential element to improve the quality of final products.

Major countries are strengthening the ecosystem of root industries as the global supply chain system has been reorganized and the importance of small and medium-sized (material, parts, and equipment) industries has increased.

Although the manufacturing industry accounts for a significant portion, most of them are small, lacking research and development capabilities and having difficulty securing manpower. Of the 730,000 workers, 68.2% of the middle-aged people in their 40s and older are in urgent need of preparation for aging.
