[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] LG Energy Solution announced on October 10 that it will develop advanced battery management system (BMS) for next-generation electric vehicles with Qualcomm.

BMS is a system that measures the current, voltage, and temperature of batteries mounted on electric vehicles and energy storage devices (ESS) to control optimal performance. Like the 'conductor of the orchestra', it not only coordinates the functions of hundreds of battery cells, but also acts as a 'safety monitor' that detects and measures the risk of fire in advance.

LG Energy Solution decided to combine Qualcomm's 'Snapdragon Digital Chassis' with BMS diagnostic software.

The two companies decided to refine the battery algorithm by improving BMS's computing power by more than 80 times.
