[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] The Fair Trade Commission has launched an investigation into Google.

It is related to the suspicion that he abused his dominance in the online advertising market and engaged in unfair practices.

According to the industry on the 11th, the FTC is investigating whether Google's business method in the online and video advertising market is an act that undermines market competitiveness through abuse of monopoly power.

Google is a direct digital ad seller. It is also responsible for mediating advertisements between websites and advertisers that can be accessed through Google.

It also operates advertising purchasing services for marketers, advertising sales services for publishers, and advertising exchanges.

The FTC is said to be looking into whether Google has used such market dominance to engage in unfair practices to prevent competitors from entering the market or forcing them to use its advertising platform.

Previously, Google was already sanctioned by the European Union (EU) authorities in June of the same year as the United States in January last year over the abuse of monopoly power in the advertising market.

At the end of last year, the FTC placed an order for research services to investigate the business conditions of the digital advertising market and prepared for Google research.
