[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] The Ministry of Justice has imposed a travel ban on Tmon CEO Ryu Kwang-jin, WEMAKEPRICE co-CEO Ryu Hwa-hyun, and Qoo10 CEO Gu Young-bae.
According to a report from News1 on the 29th, citing legal sources, the Ministry of Justice took this action following an urgent request from the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul to prohibit the travel of these four individuals, including Qoo10 Korea CEO Mok Ju-young.
The prosecution and police launched investigations into Tmon, WEMAKEPRICE, and Qoo10 on the same day. Prosecutor General Lee Won-seok ordered the formation of a dedicated investigation team under the Anti-Corruption Investigation Division 1 of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, directing them to conduct a swift investigation. The team, led by Division Chief Lee Joon-dong, consists of seven prosecutors.
On the same day, the Gangnam Police Station also received a complaint against Gu Young-bae, Ryu Kwang-jin, Ryu Hwa-hyun, and two others, alleging embezzlement, breach of trust, and fraud under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes. The police have started investigating the case through their Investigation Division 1.
It is believed that the prosecution assigned this case to the Anti-Corruption Division rather than the Criminal Division, considering it a serious crime affecting public livelihood. The urgency of the matter, including the potential for small business owners to face a chain of bankruptcies due to delayed payments, was also taken into account.
