Recalled and Discontinued Imported Seasoned Meat Products. Provided by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety

[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) announced on the 26th that it has ordered a recall and sales suspension of imported seasoned meat products due to the detection of sorbic acid, a type of food preservative.

The product in question is "Noel Tapas (Senaro+Chorizo+Salchichon)," imported by Lotte Shopping Co., Ltd. for Lotte Mart.

The product, originating from Spain, comes in a 120g package. While the manufacturing date is not indicated, the expiration date is December 9, 2024.

Sorbic acid is a food additive used to prevent spoilage and extend shelf life. However, it is not allowed in seasoned meat products. In this case, 0.182g per kilogram was detected. No other preservatives were found.

The MFDS has requested that retailers stop selling the product and return it to the supplier. Consumers who have already purchased the product are advised to return it to the place of purchase.
