[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Korea Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, HD Hyundai's intermediate holding company in the shipbuilding sector, has won seven gas carriers in a row since the beginning of the new year.
Korea Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering announced on the 20th that it recently signed a construction contract with an African-based shipping company for two super-large liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) carriers of 88,000㎥. The total contract amount is 240.8 billion won. Ulsan Hyundai Heavy Industries will build it and deliver it to the shipping company sequentially by the first half of 2026.
Korea Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering also won orders for three liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers (KRW 971.4 billion) and two (KRW 626.7 billion) on the 16th and 18th, respectively. In a week, a total of seven gas carriers received orders worth 1.8389 trillion won.
