[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] SK Hynix announced on the 25th that it has developed the highest-speed mobile DRAM 'LPDR5T (Low Power Double Data Rate 5 Turbo)' and provided samples to customers. LPDDR is a DRAM standard for mobile products such as smartphones and tablets, and it aims to minimize power consumption and has low voltage operation characteristics.
LPDDR5T is a product that upgraded the performance of the mobile DRAM LPDDR5X that SK Hynix unveiled in November last year. SK Hynix has increased the operating speed of the new product to 9.6Gbps (9.6 gigabits per second), 13% faster than LPDDR5X.
In order to emphasize that the maximum speed was achieved, the company named its own product name by attaching 'Turbo' to the back of the standard name LPDDR5. LPDDR5T operates at the lowest voltage standard of 1.01 to 1.12V (bolt) set by the International Organization for Semiconductor Standardization (JEDEC).
SK Hynix plans to mass-produce this product from the second half of this year based on the 10-nano 4th generation (1a) microprocess.
