[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Users suffered access failures due to the influx of large amounts of data believed to be distributed denial of service (DDoS) into LG U+'s wired Internet network.
According to LG U+ on the 29th, large amounts of data flowed in for about 20 minutes from 6 p.m. on the same day, causing disconnection from wired Internet networks. The exact cause of the connection failure is not known, but the management assumed it was a connection failure caused by a DDoS attack.
LG U+ recognized the connection failure and completed recovery through a bypass route. LG U+ said, "We responded immediately after confirming that there was a connection failure," adding, "We are sorry for the inconvenience to our customers."
Even at 3 a.m. on the same day, some Internet networks of LG U+ suffered access failures for about 20 minutes, causing inconvenience to users. LG U+ estimates that the accident in the morning was also caused by the same type of DDoS attack. However, it is not yet known who was responsible for the DDoS attack.
