[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] NCsoft has started restructuring its overseas subsidiaries following South Korea. Following a 20% reduction in NC West's workforce, the CEO recently left the company.
According to Venturebit and other foreign media on the 3rd, NC West fired about 20% of its total workforce on the 1st. The number of people has been reduced mainly by non-development personnel. Jeffrey Anderson, the CEO of NCWest since 2021, also resigned.
NC West's restructuring is interpreted as a decision to reduce labor costs in response to the macroeconomic downturn. Global big tech such as Twitter, Microsoft, Google and Meta are also undergoing a series of major restructurings.
NC West is estimated to have turned into a deficit with a cumulative operating loss of 17 billion won by the third quarter of last year in North America.
