[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Samyang Food announced on the 6th that it has invested 3.412 billion won to establish a sales corporation in Indonesia.
According to the World Instant Ramen Association (WINA), Indonesia is classified as the second largest consumer of ramen in the world after China. As of 2021, 13.27 billion units of ramen are sold. Indonesia has a high interest in overseas imported ramen, focusing on social network services (SNS), and overseas consumption of imported ramen is increasing by more than 5.5% annually. Samyang Foods has been steadily strengthening its position there by obtaining Indonesian MUI halal certification for the first time in the domestic ramen industry in 2017 and exporting only MUI-certified products.
