[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Japan will lift its export restrictions on South Korea in July 2019 in 44 months. Accordingly, the South Korean government has decided to drop the World Trade Organization (WTO) complaint against Japan's export regulations.
According to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy on the 16th, South Korea and Japan made the decision at the "9th Korea-Japan director-level export management policy dialogue" held from the 14th to the same day.
The dialogue was held on the 6th to discuss follow-up measures to the Korea-Japan government's announcement of a bilateral consultation policy for the "recovery of export regulations." In Japan, officials from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (Kyeongsan Province) attended.
