Hyundai Motor Group completed the development of an electric car automatic charging robot (ACR) on the 21st and released a demonstration video of the actual charging on the YouTube channel.
It is a one-armed robot that connects the electric car charger cable directly to the vehicle charging hole and puts the charger back in place when the charge is completed.
The video released on this day begins with Hyundai Motor's IONIQ 6 autonomously parking at the charging location.
When a vehicle parks in a chargeable area, the robot and the vehicle communicate with each other to open the charging hole cover, and the robot calculates the exact location and angle of the charging hole through the internal camera.
The robot picks up the charger and attaches it to the vehicle's charging hole to start charging. When charging is completed, all charging processes are carried out on their own, such as pulling out the charger, returning it to its place, and closing the cover of the charging hole.
Considering that most electric vehicle chargers are installed outdoors, Hyundai Motor Group has installed outdoor electric vehicle charging stations in research institutes and evaluates them in various environments.
The electric vehicle ACR has secured a waterproof and dustproof rating of IP65 level and is improving its performance to operate reliably even in high and low temperature environments.
