[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] The Korean fighter KF-21 has successfully completed its first armed flight test.
The Defense Acquisition Program Administration said on the 28th that KF-21 took off from the Sacheon Air Force 3rd Training Wing and conducted an air-to-air separation test and an air-to-air firing test over the South Sea.
The test was conducted to verify safety by checking changes in gas structure, engine and aerodynamic characteristics that may occur when disarming from a fighter jet or firing a gun. It also evaluated the normal operation of the aviation and electronic system related to armed operation.
On the same day, the KF-21 Siege 2 carried out an armed separation test on the medium-range air-to-air missile (Meteor) test and the 3 carried out about 100 air-to-air firing tests. Armed separation is a test that checks the interference caused by the external separation between the aircraft and the armed installation, and air gun firing is a test that checks the performance of the air gun system and whether the aircraft is damaged at launch.
KF-21 has verified its supersonic flight capabilities and advanced aviation electronic performance, including AESA radar, by conducting about 150 flight tests since its first flight in July last year.
In the future, KF-21 will continue to verify the stability and performance of its weapons by testing short-range, medium-range air-to-air missiles and guns in all flight areas (low-altitude, high-altitude, low-speed, supersonic, etc.).
