According to the Atomic Energy Research Institute on the 6th, A (male), who joined the company as a non-regular worker in 2002, was caught defrauding a total of 1.5 billion won through false purchases while in charge of small purchases of consumable materials such as stationery, supplies and gloves until recently. In the process of purchasing consumable materials needed for the institute, A kissed with the supplier and pocketed money by spending money and not receiving goods or receiving less. In particular, it was found to have been cleverly avoided by submitting false fake transaction data and data during the inventory survey and settlement of accounts conducted by the institute every year. After finding that there was a difference between the details of small purchases and total spending during its own settlement of accounts last year, the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute launched an investigation and confirmed the embezzlement.
An official from the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute said, "The employee denied the charges at first, but admitted embezzlement in the continuous presentation of evidence." The Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute requested the Daejeon Yuseong Police Station to investigate the case on the 10th of last month, and the investigation is currently underway.
Currently, the employee has been put on standby after being excluded from work, and four related suppliers have been suspended from contracts. The Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute plans to strengthen its own accounting audit system and prepare measures to prevent recurrence.
"We have applied for property preservation for the employee, and we will hold him legally responsible after deciding whether and the level of disciplinary action as soon as the results of the police investigation are released," an official at the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute said.
