[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Chanel, a global luxury brand, has launched watch products on Shinsegae Group's integrated online platform SSG.com.
It is the first time in the world that Chanel sells high-end luxury products such as watches, fashion and jewelry, which cost millions to tens of millions of won per item, at e-commerce, except for relatively low- and medium-priced beauty products.
Chanel started the Chanel Interstellar Capsule Exhibition at 10 am on the 10th at SSG.com. This exhibition is a 'surprise event' that Chanel as well as Shinsegae Group did not promote and market in advance.
Shinsegae Group is reportedly planning to continue selling the product on SSG.com and expand its items to jewelry and other items starting next month.
An official in the distribution industry said, "Chanel's decision to enter the SSG dot-com seems to have been affected by the growth of the Korean luxury market, which is one of the fastest in the world."
