Judge Kim Bae-hyun of the Pohang branch of the Daegu District Court said on the 13th that he sentenced the head of a subcontractor of POSCO Chemicals (formerly POSCO Future M), who was indicted on charges of violating the Occupational Safety and Health Act, to one year in prison and suspended for two years.
In addition, B, a person in charge of maintenance work at a subcontractor, who was indicted on charges of professional negligence, was sentenced to 10 months in prison, suspended for two years, and the head of POSCO Chemical's plant and the maintenance manager indicted on the same charge were fined 8 million won and 6 million won, respectively.
They were indicted on March 16, 2021, on charges of causing a subcontractor employee working at a POSCO Chemical plant to get stuck in a machine and die.
At that time, the employee was in an accident while working on maintenance while the facility was in operation without a work conductor.
Separately, the court fined POSCO Chemical and its subcontractors 10 million won, respectively.
