[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Google Korea recorded sales of KRW 344.9 billion last year. Criticism continues as it does not include sales of Google Play fees amounting to 6 trillion won in Korea.
According to Google Korea's audit report on the 14th, sales rose 18% year-on-year to 344.9 billion won last year. Operating profit fell 5.4 percent on-year to 27.8 billion won.
By sector, advertising and other reseller revenue is 144.1 billion won, R&D service revenue is 53.3 billion won, marketing service support revenue is 136.6 billion won, and hardware revenue is 10.9 billion won.
Google Korea's sales last year were around 4% compared to Naver (8.22 trillion won) and Kakao (7.1068 trillion won). The reason why Google Korea's sales are lower than that of major domestic platform companies is that domestic commission sales from Google Play, the app market, are not set as performance.
Google receives up to 30% of its revenue from the app market as a commission. However, this revenue is recorded as Google Asia Pacific sales in Singapore. Because the server is overseas, the app market fee division is excluded from sales.
