[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Mirae Asset Securities will terminate Mirae Asset Pay, a simple payment service. It has been more than two years since its launch in October 2021.
As Apple Pay landed in Korea last month, 14 million iPhone users will move to Apple Pay.
Mirae Asset Securities announced on June 18 that it will terminate Mirae Asset Pay service on June 20. Mirae Asset Pay is a payment method using the smartphone's short-range wireless communication (NFC) function.
The introduction of Apple Pay in Korea affected Mirae Asset Securities' termination of the service.
Chung Tae-young, vice chairman of Hyundai Card, said on his Facebook account on the 11th, "The number of subscription tokens has exceeded 2 million for the third week since Apple Pay was released," adding, "The usage rate of subscribers is 60%."
"We want to deliver greater value through 'investment' and 'asset management' of our customers than we have provided through Mirae Asset Pay," Mirae Asset Pay said in a notice.
