[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] The Saudi government, which has recently emerged as a big hand in the global game market, will once again visit South Korea to meet a local game company.
According to the investment bank (IB) and the game industry on the 18th, officials from the Saudi investment department will visit South Korean companies, including game companies, this week. The detailed schedule has not been disclosed, but it is known that various collaboration discussions will be held.
The most mentioned game company is Wemade. In February this year, Wemade signed a strategic partnership with a subsidiary of Sabi Games Group under the Saudi sovereign wealth fund Public Investment (PIF) on blockchain game platform Wemix Play. Last year, WeMade CEO Jang Hyun-kook was making efforts to enter the Middle East market by conducting interviews with Dubai's local airwave news channels.
In addition to WeMade, Pearl Abyss, which gained huge popularity in the Middle East market as a "Black Desert," is also expected to visit. The Black Desert, a multi-access role-playing game (MMORPG), was selected as the most enjoyed Korean game by users in the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia, in a survey conducted by the Korea Creative Content Agency last year.
