[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] The second criminal division of the Pohang branch of the Daegu District Court said on the 28th that it has sentenced A, who was arrested and indicted on charges of similar rape and special injury, to two and a half years in prison.
In addition, it ordered a 40-hour sexual violence treatment program and a three-year employment restriction for institutions related to children, adolescents and the disabled.
A, who worked at POSCO's Pohang Iron & Steel Co., was indicted on charges of assaulting a female employee and similar rape at around 6 a.m. after entering the house of a female employee in the same department at around 2:10 a.m. on May 29 last year.
"The defendant A denies the charges, but judging from the evidence and statements, it is admitted that he injured the victim by assaulting the victim," the court said. "We considered that he wanted severe punishment because the victim was mentally shocked and felt sexual humiliation."
However, the court found the alleged invasion of the house innocent, saying that it is difficult to say that the act of entry alone constitutes an invasion.
