[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Korea Electric Power Corporation will invest a total of 56.5 trillion won in Songbyeon Legend Monument by 2036.
KEPCO announced today (8th) that the 10th Long-term Transmission Cost Plan, which was established with the aim of establishing a stable power system, was finalized after deliberation by the 282nd Electricity Committee of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
This plan is a long-term transmission facility detailed plan for 15 years from last year to 2036, and was established in accordance with the power supply prospect and transmission facility expansion standard of the '10th Basic Power Supply Plan'.
According to the plan, a total of 56.5 trillion won will be invested by 2036. 22 trillion won will be invested in places where new electricity will be supplied, such as the national high-tech strategic industry and the third new city in the Seoul metropolitan area, and 34.5 trillion won will be invested in places linked to carbon-free power systems such as nuclear power plants and renewable energy.
Specifically, a plan has been established to introduce an "electric highway" linking the Seoul metropolitan area with the west coast and Honam region. The Seoul metropolitan area lacks renewable energy compared to electricity demand, but the west coast and Honam regions are planning to establish a network that can transfer surplus power to the Seoul metropolitan area as demand cannot keep up with supply.
It is expected that this will resolve the power supply imbalance between regions.
